Mayfield’s next Improv Storytelling Workshop on Spring Equinox. Sunday, March 22 in Media, PA

Our Jupiter in the east at sunset.

Our Jupiter in the east at sunset.

So, let’s review. This week we’ve experienced Fat Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Chinese New Year, the Tibetan DON Days of Chaos and Tibetan New Year, the New Moon was yesterday, Mercury is direct, Venus is setting in the west at early evening while Jupiter blazes in the evening eastern sky and stays out all night long. WELL, OK THEN!!

This can only mean one thing. An Improv Storytelling Workshop is about to happen. Yep, it’s true! Here is the scoop:

On Sunday, March 22, 2015  1pm – 4:30pm  We’ll be meeting at a glorious art house in Media, PA. Easy access from I-476 and Route 1. Cost is $85. Call or email me to register. 505-231-4774  bmayfieldmedia@gmail.com

Improvisational Storytelling is a cross between a campfire and a bungee jump. Be prepared for a day of productive play! No experience, in anything except being alive, is necessary.

IMPROV STORYTELLING WORKSHOPS are for writers, storytellers, story-slammers, songwriters, screenwriters of any genre and level, all Creatives and those who think they are not, and anyone who wants to experience the mystical power of the spontaneous. Space is limited to 10 to 12 max. As of today, there are 5 spaces left.

What DOESN’T happen in a workshop: There is no fixing, figuring it out, marketing, planning, publishing, worrying, fretting or struggling. No one does any scary, standing-in-front-of-an-audience, solo public speaking (that’s a different workshop). No one is asked to Act or to be Funny. Improvisational Storytelling is a unique form, completely different from improv comedy and improv acting.

What DOES happen: Improv Storytelling involves relaxing, listening, and the taking of fun and funny risks. New stories float in. Participants speak out loud a bit, and write to capture & harvest the goods. I bring my bag of tricks from years of theater, improv storytelling and creative writing, to lead you in a creative process that is thrilling and unstoppable.

Reserve your spot in the workshop now. It’s going to be wonderful. bmayfieldmedia@gmail.com

Mayfield’s TRUE STORIES Exhibition March 7 through April 19, 2015. New work at Quiet Life Gallery in Lambertville, NJ.

True Stories Show - "Birds in the Flow"

True Stories Show – “Birds in the Flow”

A whole freakin’ lot is going on over here, no matter the cold and the sideways sleet, AKA the Glory of February, in Philadelphia. Today however, the sun is out and I’m getting new work ready for my TRUE STORIES Exhibition at the Quiet Life Gallery in Lambertville, New Jersey.

You are all invited to the Opening Reception!! 2-5pm on Saturday, March 7, 2015.

I’m finishing up the last of the new paintings and getting to the nuts and bolts: painting edges, attaching wires, sanding frames, and thinking about what color to use to paint my name on the lower right corners.

Lambertville is one of the charm capitals of the world. It sits right on the mighty Delaware River across from New Hope, PA. Come on out to play on March 7th!! I’m gonna dress up.

Monoprints, oils on panel, watercolors, acrylics, mixed media on paper. So many ways to make art!

My son Chris asked me to take the January art slot at his newly-opened second restaurant, Christopher’s in Malvern. Of course I said yes, then scrambled to pull pieces together. So: work from several series over quite a few years of art-making are on the walls until the end of January.

Please go have a bite to eat and enjoy the artwork!!

Artwork is up and a full house at Christopher's in Malvern PA.

Full house on Sunday at Christopher’s in Malvern PA, because they rock Sunday brunch!
